Council-sponsored opportunities are activities provided by paid and volunteer staff and open to girls throughout the council.  These opportunities offer a chance for your troop or individual girl to meet other girls from within the council's jurisdiction.

MAUMEE VALLEY AREA OPPORTUNITIES

MAPLE SUGAR FESTIVAL

Ages:

Native Americans called Maple Syrup “Sweetwater.” Come and see how Ohio’s largest crop is harvested as our staff take you through the history of Maple Sugaring. Also, explore the rest of Camp Libbey by visiting our Pioneer classroom, trying your aim at archery and tomahawk throwing, playing pioneer games, and learning how to make your own butter, Maple candy, rag dolls, and candles. This great day of fun and excitement includes a delicious brunch of all you can eat pancakes and sausage toped with pure Ohio Maple Syrup.

"GIRL SCOUT DAY AT TOLEDO ZOO"

Ages: 

 Escape for a walk in the wild at the Toledo Zoo where your troop, family and friends can experience the habitat of over 3,000 animals representing 525 different species. This event includes a special “Girl Scout Only (and their family)” education program, FREE train ride in the African Safari ($2 savings), discounted prices for the carousel, along with discounts on concessions, gift shop, bakery and the Carnivore Café. Zoo Day Entry Fee includes admission to park, special zoo education program, and patch for youth. Use your Zoo Membership and pay a discounted rate. LIVING HISTORY LANTERN WALK

Ages

Come visit the Wood County Historical Museum where you will be guided along a wooded trail beside the Portage River. You will meet individuals dressed as our ancestors from the past that will talk about their life and how they did things in the Pioneer days of Northwest Ohio all of this while working on the “Through the Years, All in the Family, and Her Story” Try-It.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY - COMMUNITY ACTION PROJECT

Join the hundreds of people that make a difference in our community. This day is recognized nationally as a community clean up day. We will meet in the River View Parking lot at Side Cut Metropark to help clean up the river and park, all supplies will be provided by the Metropark.

SEED COLLECTING - COMMUNITY ACTION PROJECT

Help Oak Openings Metropark with their annual prairie seed collecting efforts. These seedlings will be planted for re-established wildflower and grasses that grow in the following spring. Join the fun and dress for the weather. Meet at the Beuhner Center at Mallard Lake.

BUCKEYE TRAILS AREA OPPORTUNITIES

MEMORIAL DAY FLAG CEREMONY

Ages

All Girl Scouts are invited to participate in this annual event held at the Dayton National Cemetery, 4100 W Third Street, Dayton, OH. Girls will participate in the opening ceremony and will join other community members to place flags on more than 28,000 graves of women and men who fought for our freedom. This is a great community service project for your troop!
