Community-sponsored opportunities offer troops/individuals activities that support the Girl Scout program goals.  These community groups have chosen to be listed in our resources and on our website and are familiar with our program goals, as well as Safety-Wise requirements.

Inclusion in the Volunteer Resource Disc is not an endorsement of these agencies.  Troop leaders should research the event/activity prior to registering for an event/activity to ensure that the event meets the needs and interests of their girls and all safety regulations are being met.

ARTRAGEOUS SATURDAYS

(Oct) ArtsPower National Touring Theatre presents: Amber Brown is Not a Crayon, based on the book by Paula Danziger. What do you do when your best friend is leaving forever and, as if that weren't bad enough, doesn't even seem to care? ArtsPower's musical Amber takes a refreshingly genuine look at the life of a third grader.

(Nov) When lonely Yeshimebet marries a widowed man with a son, a Wise Man tells that she must pluck three whiskers from wild lion to win the heart of the little boy. Based on a traditional Ethiopian folktale, this show features a multitude of masks and puppets ranging from three quarter life-sized to gigantic and is highlighted with shadow puppetry and original songs.

(Feb) Sergei Prokfiev's classic is brought to life with beautifully crafted life-sized "banraku" style puppets. Told through narration and musical themes, the audiences listen to the story of the adventurous young Peter, who wanders of into the meadow where he encounters a cat, bird, duck, and of course, the dangerous Wolf.

(March) Originally created by Aesop, history’s greatest fable maker, town mouse and country mouse are two of the world’s most beloved characters. Join our mice friends as they explore each other’s lives and decide once and for all if the grass is truly greener on the other side!
