Community-sponsored opportunities offer troops/individuals activities that
support the Girl Scout program goals. These community groups have
chosen to be listed in our resources and on our website and are familiar with our program
goals, as well as Safety-Wise requirements.
Inclusion
in the Volunteer Resource Disc is
not an endorsement of these agencies. Troop leaders should
research the event/activity prior to registering for an event/activity to ensure
that the event meets the needs and interests of their girls and all
safety regulations are being met.

CIVIC GARDEN CENTER OF

GREAT OUTDOOR WEEKEND -
OVERNIGHT IN AN OASIS    
Join one of the many events of the
Great Outdoor Weekend! The Civic Garden Center sits on
eight beautifully landscaped acres called Sooty Acres - an oasis
in the city. Come pitch a tent on the grassy knoll, search
for night insects, decorate yourself with glow-in-the-dark face
paint, join in evening games, and much more. |

GROWING TOGETHER CLASSES
  
Growing Together classes are
designed to encourage the imagination while learning about
nature. We ask that adults and children come to learn
together, but accommodations can be made for groups. |

BUILD A FAIRY HOUSE
    
This crafty class has become an
annual favorite. Use collected botanicals, slices of tree
trunks and bits of shells and more to create your own unique
dwelling for the little people. Your imagination is the
only limit to what results. Kids over 12 can build their
own; younger kids team up with an adult to make a house.
Hot glue guns will be used. |

CORNHUSK DOLLS
    
Here's a chance to incorporate a
Native American tradition into your celebration of Thanksgiving.

GIFTS FOR FURRY AND FEATHERED
FRIENDS    
Oncoming winter months are a great
time to feed birds, and any time is a great time to treat your
pet. We will make tasty treats for wild birds & kitty cats in
this fun, hands-on activity. |

PAPER MAKING
    
Come and enjoy an introductory
lesson on turning old paper into nice handmade paper.
You'll leave with the ability to make more at home and a good
start on a Valentine's Day card. |

NATURAL EGG DYING
    
Have fun as we learn to decorate
eggs with natural dyes made from familiar plants, apply natural
dried botanicals, and create a charming basket. Wear old
clothes or bring an apron. Adult supervision suggested for
younger children. |
